The Citation XLS+: a stand-up midsize for medium European legs

The XLS+ is the 2008 version of Cessna's Citation Excel family. It added FADEC engine control, uprated Pratt & Whitney PW545C engines and a new nose. Cessna has since replaced it with the XLS Gen2 and then the Citation Ascend, first delivered in December 2025. Many XLS+ aircraft remain in charter fleets.

The cabin is 5.64 m long, 1.68 m wide and 1.73 m high. Most adults can walk through it standing, which sets it apart from the light jets. Charter layouts usually seat seven to nine.

Baggage capacity is 90 cubic feet, or 2.55 m³. That is enough for a weekend for a full cabin, or skis for a smaller group.

Cessna's XLS+ page quotes a range of 2,100 nm and a maximum cruise of 441 kt, without stating the load. Take-off needs about 1,085 m and landing about 969 m. Those short-field figures help at tight airports in the Alps and on the islands.
