Flying Ibiza to Mykonos: an intra-Schengen leg with a hard landing window
Spain and Greece are both in Schengen, so this is a flight inside the zone, without a passport desk at either end. The constraints are all at the Greek end, and they decide when you can leave Ibiza.
Leaving Ibiza
The jet departs from Ibiza’s general aviation terminal, a short drive from Ibiza Town. With a 2,800 m runway there is no performance concern on departure, even in a full midsize jet with luggage for a week. The driver brings bags straight to the aircraft, so the check-in time is set by the handler, not by queues.
Landing at Mykonos
Mykonos slots for private flights are issued only 14 days before the movement, and scheduled airlines get priority. So the Ibiza departure time is the last thing we confirm. Once you land, the aircraft has around forty minutes on the ground from May to September. It then repositions, usually to Athens, because no visiting aircraft may park on the island in season.
That shapes two choices. First, keep luggage manageable, since there is no time for a slow unload. Second, if you want the same aircraft to take you on later in the week, it waits in Athens and positions back. We plan that leg before you leave Ibiza.
Why the timing works
