When a light jet is the right aircraft

Almost every European trip we fly starts here. London to Nice, Paris to Milan, Geneva to Cannes, London to Ibiza — all comfortably inside a light jet’s legs, all at a price that makes flying private a decision rather than an event. Four to six passengers with normal luggage is the sweet spot.

The modern generation is a real step up on what came before. A Phenom 300E or CJ3+ gives you a flat cabin floor, an enclosed lavatory, and enough baggage volume for golf clubs or a set of skis. Cabin height is the honest limitation: you sit rather than stand, and on anything past two hours tall passengers feel it.

The economics also work in your favour on this class because there are simply more of them. Light jets reposition constantly, which means empty legs surface more often here than anywhere else in the fleet — we monitor them daily and pass them on when the timing fits your trip.

Questions

How much does a light jet cost per hour?
As a market guide, £2,400–£3,200 per flight hour. Light jets reposition constantly, so empty legs surface on this class more than any other — when one matches your route and window the saving is substantial.
Can a light jet reach Mykonos from London?
Most cannot do it nonstop with a full cabin. A Phenom 300E or Learjet 75 will manage it light-loaded in favourable winds; with six passengers and luggage we would put you on a midsize aircraft rather than plan a fuel stop.
Is there a lavatory?
On the aircraft we charter, yes — enclosed, at the rear. Some older light jets have a curtained belted seat instead, which we avoid for anything over ninety minutes.
How much luggage fits?
Roughly six soft cases, or four cases plus a golf bag or ski set. Hard cases eat the hold quickly — tell us what you are carrying and we will confirm before you commit.
