Above 40 m the yacht is the destination: staterooms, a crew of nine plus, and the tender does the commuting. Charter rules still cap sleeping guests at twelve — bigger parties pair the yacht with a villa ashore.

The twelve-guest ceiling is not a broker's convention. It comes from the Red Ensign Group Yacht Code, which most charter yachts of this size are built and surveyed to.
Part A of that code covers yachts of 24 metres and over in commercial use that carry no more than 12 passengers. Carrying 13 to 36 moves a yacht into Part B, the passenger yacht rules. Few charter yachts are built to it, which is why larger parties pair the boat with a villa.
The Benetti Oasis 40M is a fair reference for the class. It is about 41 metres long and 8.5 metres wide, with five guest cabins for ten to twelve guests.
It carries up to nine crew. It cruises at 14.5 knots, with a range of about 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. The aft deck folds down towards the water around a pool and beach club, so the stern becomes a terrace at anchor.
In French Mediterranean waters, vessels over 24 metres may not anchor on Posidonia seagrass. Off Pampelonne, they must use designated zones set by length, with separate drop-off areas for guest transfers.
In practice the yacht lies further out than the day boats. The tender does the last few hundred metres to Club 55 or the quay.
Monaco sets the pace. The 2027 Grand Prix runs from 3 to 6 June and adds a Sprint race for the first time. The Monaco Yacht Show fills Port Hercule again each September.
