The Costa Smeralda is built around one harbour and one protected archipelago. Both shape how a week here runs.
Marina di Porto Cervo has about 700 berths, 100 of them for megayachts. It takes yachts up to 160 metres with an eight-metre draught.
The new marina runs all year, around the clock. The Old Port, at the heart of the village, opens officially from 1 June to 30 September.
There is a boatyard on site, Cantiere Porto Cervo, which matters if anything needs attention mid-charter. Olbia Costa Smeralda airport is about 18 nautical miles away.
Every pleasure craft entering the Maddalena archipelago needs a National Park permit, booked online in advance and priced by length. A closed black-water holding tank is compulsory.
Ordinanza 33/2026, in force since 1 June 2026, governs the 2026 and 2027 seasons. It lifted the earlier ban on staying at anchor overnight.
Anchoring is allowed only on clear sand, never on Posidonia seagrass. Several bays are closed to anchoring altogether, including Santa Maria, Cala Connari and the Spiaggia Rosa on Budelli.
The pink beach on Budelli has been off limits to landing for years. You see it from the water, and the swim stop moves to a neighbouring sandy bay.
Holding-tank and permit requirements mean the yacht must be set up for the park before you sail. A 30–40 m displacement yacht usually is.
