The ACJ319: an airliner cabin, and the fuel-or-luggage trade-off
The ACJ319 is the corporate version of the Airbus A319. Airbus's current model, the ACJ319neo, has a cabin 24 m long, 3.70 m wide and 2.25 m high. That gives 83 m² of floor, enough for a bedroom, a bathroom, a dining or meeting area and a lounge in one aircraft.
Average cabin altitude is held below 5,900 ft, which helps on long night flights.
How the ACJ319 reaches its range
Airbus quotes 6,750 nm with eight passengers, using auxiliary fuel tanks fitted in the cargo hold. Each extra tank reduces luggage space. With no extra tanks the hold takes 27.7 m³; with five fitted, only 3.8 m³ remains.
In practice, a long trip with a large party and heavy luggage is a balance between range and baggage. We ask about both early, so the operator can confirm the tank fit before quoting.
Which of our routes the ACJ319 suits
It suits Lagos to Dubai, about 3,184 nm, and London to Dubai, with plenty of range left for luggage. Lagos to London is also well within reach. It is the aircraft for a delegation or extended family that wants rooms rather than rows.
It has integrated airstairs, so it does not depend on ground stairs at smaller airports. It can also use runways as narrow as 30 m.
The ACJ319 against its class siblings
The A320-family cabin is 3.70 m wide, wider than the 3.53 m of the original Boeing BBJ. The Lineage 1000E has less range and a smaller cabin. The ACJ319 is the widest-bodied aircraft in this class on our site.
