Dubai's season is the inverse of Europe's. It opens in October as the Mediterranean closes, peaks from December to March, and runs on a calendar of set-piece weekends — the Grand Prix, New Year, the tennis, the World Cup at Meydan — that decide when the suites, the tables and the boats are gone. Here is the winter month by month: what the weather does, what fills the city, and what to book when.
November: the season opens
Days in the low thirties at the start of the month and the high twenties by the end, sea still warm, evenings that finally allow a terrace. The beach clubs and rooftop rooms reopen their outdoor programming, the Dubai Rugby Sevens fills the last weekend, and the city has the feel of a resort that has just taken the covers off. It is the best-value month of the winter for the same hotels, and the tables at Zuma and Cé La Vi can still be placed with a week's notice.
December: the Grand Prix and New Year
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina opens the month — the season finale, ninety minutes down the road, and the weekend on which every serious room in both cities is committed. Then Dubai settles into its best weather: mid-twenties by day, mid-teens at night, almost no rain. The Shopping Festival runs through the month, the hotels fill for Christmas, and New Year's Eve is the single hardest night of the year — the Burj Khalifa fireworks turn every terrace with a view into a ticketed event, and the suites at the Burj Al Arab and Atlantis for the last week of December are placed by the summer. If New Year in Dubai is the plan, it is a September conversation.
January: the quiet peak
The coolest month — highs around 24°C, nights that can drop to the low teens, and the occasional day of rain that the city treats as an event. It is also the month regulars choose: the Christmas crowd has gone, the weather is perfect for the golf and the desert, the Dubai Desert Classic brings the golf to the Emirates club in the second half of the month, and the tables and the boats can be had with a fortnight's notice. The Palm lap at dusk in January is Dubai at its most photogenic.
February: tennis, and the calendar changes
Warming again — highs in the mid-twenties, sea around 22°C — and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships bring a fortnight of players and their entourages to the Aviation Club. Ramadan is expected to begin in early February in 2027, and it reshapes the month: restaurants operate on adjusted hours, the club rooms scale their programming back or pause it, and the city's evening moves to iftar and the hotel terraces. It remains an excellent month for the beach, the desert and a quieter kind of luxury; it is not the month for the night, and we say so when the dates land there.
March: the World Cup and the last of the season
Ramadan runs into early March in 2027 and the city comes back to full volume as it ends. Highs climb towards 30°C. The Dubai World Cup at Meydan on the last Saturday of the month is the racing event of the year and the last great set-piece of the season — the grandstand hospitality, the after-parties and every table in Meydan and DIFC placed weeks ahead. Art Dubai follows in early April, and by then the heat is returning and the season is closing. March is the month to book early and the month the winter ends properly.
What to book, and in what order
Suites for New Year and the Grand Prix first, because they go by the summer. Then the set-piece hospitality — Yas Marina, the World Cup — because the official programmes sell in the autumn. Then the flights: London to Dubai is roughly 6h 50m nonstop on a heavy jet into a dedicated VIP terminal — see London to Dubai by private jet. The tables come last and are the easiest: Armani/Privé, Billionaire, BLU Sky and Soho Garden carry guides from AED 1,800 to AED 3,000 and are placed within the week outside the set-piece weekends.
