Copal Beach at 63 La Croisette: setting, season and arrival
Copal occupies the beach at 63 Boulevard de la Croisette, on the site of the former 3.14 Beach. It is on the eastern stretch of the seafront, towards Palm Beach rather than the Palais. That end of the Croisette is a little calmer than the beaches by the festival hall.
What the place is like
The idea is a South American hacienda with its feet in the sand, created by chef Juan Arbelaez around Colombian cooking. White sails shade the terrace. Velvet banquettes, bougainvillea and walls of pink waxed concrete set it apart from the classic blue-and-white Croisette beach. Incense is part of the welcome. Deckchairs face the open sea in front.
Season
Copal says it opens 300 days a year, which is rare on this strip. In the winter months it runs lunch only, Wednesday to Sunday. Through the main season the beach opens at 10am and service continues until midnight.
Arriving
There is valet parking on the boulevard, so a car can drop at the entrance and collect later. Hotels at the eastern end of the Croisette are within walking distance along the seafront.
