Le Plongeoir: the rock, the platform and the season
Le Plongeoir is at 60 Boulevard Franck Pilatte, on the coast road east of the port of Nice. The restaurant stands on a rock in the sea, reached from the road by a pier and stairs. A lift is available for those who need it.
History
In the late 19th century the rock became the base for a fishing boat. By the Belle Époque, guests were taking cocktails and tea up there, a little more than six metres above the water.
Three spaces
The venue has three parts. Le Rocher seats up to 50, with a heated, enclosed structure for 36 in cooler months. Le Plongeoir, the platform itself, takes up to 40. Le Vivier is the lounge bar, for 60 seated, open from late May to late September with DJs.
The kitchen
Chef Marc Dussoullier cooks a Mediterranean menu that follows the seasons and the market, with Provençal and French classics. Vegetarian and gluten-free dishes are available.
Season and hours
For 2026 the restaurant opened on 12 March and closes on 15 November. It serves every day from noon to 9.30pm, so dinner here is an early evening rather than a late one.
Arriving
