Booking Riccio Beach Club — what to know

Riccio Beach Club is booked by the daybed and the table — on peak Capri days the front row goes to those who reserved first and spend accordingly. Open daily for lunch in season; dinner Thursday to Saturday only. Minimum spends around €400 apply to the best positions. Daytime dress is beach chic.

About Riccio Beach Club

Il Riccio hangs above the Blue Grotto — Capri Palace's two-key beach restaurant where sea urchin pasta and the famous dessert 'temptation room' justify the cliff-side journey. Lunch is the classic; the terrace before sunset is the secret.

Il Riccio by the Blue Grotto: where it is and when it serves

Il Riccio is at Via Gradola 4/6, in Anacapri, on the rocks a few metres from the Blue Grotto. It belongs to Jumeirah Capri Palace. It sits on the island's north-west tip, far from the Faraglioni and Marina Piccola.

Service times

  • Lunch: Monday to Saturday, 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
  • Sunday lunch: 12.30pm to 6pm, a longer afternoon.
  • Dinner: Thursday to Saturday only, 7.30pm to 10.30pm.

Dinner on a Monday to Wednesday is not possible, so plan an evening visit for later in the week.

The table

The cooking is Mediterranean seafood, served by the water. The Plateau Royal is the signature seafood platter. The style is chic but informal, in blue and white, and the dress code is casual. All ages are welcome, which makes it a good family lunch.

The dessert room

After the meal, guests walk into a room lined with majolica tiles, set with the island's pastries. Expect babà al rum, torta caprese, sfogliatelle and delizia al limone. It is part of the meal, not an extra stop.

Getting there

Il Riccio is reached by road along Via Gradola from Anacapri. Non-resident cars are restricted on Capri for most of the year, so guests arrive by taxi. From Capri town, the taxi crosses the island. From a yacht at Marina Grande, a taxi climbs to Anacapri and down again.

Who it suits
