La Môme is one of the two or three hardest dinner reservations in Cannes, and during the Film Festival it is close to impossible without a relationship. Outside the Festival it is a straightforward booking with a few days' notice.

July and August need one to two weeks for a good table. Festival dates need two to three months, carry a minimum spend, and are frequently allocated to returning clients before they reach general release.

There is a second La Môme in Cannes on the beach as well as the Rue Florian dinner room. They are different bookings with different atmospheres — we confirm which one you are being placed in, because the two are regularly confused.

How the restaurant takes bookings

La Môme takes reservations online through Zenchef, by telephone and by email to the restaurant. The restaurant runs valet parking at the door, which matters on a busy summer night.

Which time to ask for

Service starts at 7.30pm every night. An early table suits a quieter dinner, a business conversation or children. A table from around 9.30pm catches the room as the DJ builds. Say which you want; the two are different evenings.

Which part of the room

The bar sits at the entrance and the dining room opens behind it. Tables near the bar feel the energy and the traffic of arrivals. Those further in are calmer. We ask for one or the other when we place the booking.

If the date is full

Midô, the same brothers' Nikkei restaurant, is across the street at 5 rue Florian, at the end of a small passageway. It takes bookings the same way and serves from the same hour. That makes it the natural second choice for the same evening.

A day in one house

For a full Cannes day, pair lunch at La Môme Plage with dinner here. Book both at the same time, since they are separate reservations with separate teams.

Late plans

If the evening continues, Chrystie on rue Macé is a few minutes away and opens around midnight.
