Flash is not a large club floor. It is a small, discreet bar with music, hidden behind a door inside Il Grande, the Italian restaurant at Palm Beach. The house itself calls it a confidential bar where elegance meets mystery.
Where it is
Palm Beach stands at Place Franklin Roosevelt, on the Pointe Croisette at the far eastern end of the seafront. The building dates from 1928 and reopened after five years of restoration. It now holds a casino, several restaurants and night venues, including Zuma and Medusa. Flash is reached through Il Grande, under the building's seven-metre dome.
The room
The architect Hugo Toro, who also designed Il Grande, dressed it in warm textures. The bar programme centres on agave: tequila and mezcal, and reworked versions of the classic cocktails. DJ sets build through the night, from lounge to livelier, with themed evenings and guest DJs.
Hours
Flash opens on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from midnight until 5am. Il Grande serves a late dinner beforehand, so the natural sequence is dinner in the restaurant and then through the door. Flash also takes private events.
Arriving
Palm Beach has 200 free parking spaces and a valet service, which makes a late pick-up straightforward. From the central Croisette hotels it is a short drive along the seafront.
Who it suits
A small party that wants a late cocktail bar with good music, rather than a packed dance floor. For a show and a bigger late room in the same complex, Medusa is the choice. For dinner first, Zuma is also at Palm Beach. Guests arriving from Nice can use the Nice to Cannes helicopter.
