Principote Mykonos dress code, in detail

The code is beach chic, which on Panormos means resort dressing rather than swimwear. It is relaxed on the sand and firmer at the table.

Men: linen shirt or a good tee, tailored shorts or light trousers, espadrilles or clean loafers. Women: kaftans, resort dresses, elevated swimwear with a cover-up. Sunglasses do most of the work.

Turned away: football shirts, visible swim shorts at the table, anything that reads as a stag group. Principote is a lunch-and-afternoon beach club, and the door notices when people have not changed for the table.

Send the date and party size on WhatsApp and we confirm directly with the venue — usually within the hour. Terms and position are confirmed in writing before anything is committed, and if the date has gone we say so.

Principote's dress code in practice: boats, the VIP area and the Agora

Principote's restaurant spans three spaces and patios, all open to the sea. Its online booking slots run from 1pm to 7pm, so most guests sit down in daytime clothes. The code matters most at lunch.

Coming ashore

Guests arriving by boat use the beach club moorings. Step off in swimwear and a cover-up, and keep the lunch outfit dry in a bag. A quick change before taking a restaurant table is normal. Handmade umbrellas shade the standard beds, but a hat is still wise at midday.

In the VIP area

VIP guests can order the full restaurant menu at their lounger. In practice that means a meal in swimwear is acceptable there, where it would not be in the restaurant. A party that wants to eat at the bed without changing should book the VIP area.

The secluded restaurant section

The restaurant has a VIP area set apart from the main room. It asks for no more formality in dress, but it is more private. That suits a family, or a guest who would rather not be noticed.

If something has been forgotten

The Agora boutique on site sells summer fashion. A forgotten cover-up or a fresh shirt for lunch can be bought on the spot rather than sent for.
