There are fifty places in central London that call themselves a "members club". Six of them are the ones that actually matter. Here is the working list for 2026, with honest joining notes and how introductions work.
The shortlist
Annabel's, Berkeley Square
The room everyone wants. Birley family operation, four floors, eight bars, the garden room. Joining fee high five figures. Waitlist: 18 to 36 months. Two members must propose and second. Guest entry by introduction — that is what OF.luxury arranges most often.
5 Hertford Street, Mayfair
Robin Birley's discreet alternative. No photographs, no name on the door. Membership applications are reviewed quarterly. Lower profile than Annabel's; arguably the harder room to get into.
Oswald's, St James's
Birley's third club, focused on wine and a slower dining tempo. Smaller. Lower profile. Excellent room for lunches.
George, Mayfair
Mayfair institution on Mount Street. Old-money clientele, classic Italian kitchen, members lounge upstairs. Joining is via introduction and ballot.
Maison Estelle, Bond Street
Newer, fashion-and-art lean. Easier to join than the Birley rooms but still curated.
Cipriani Membership, Pavilion Road
Restaurant-with-membership model. Reservations protected for members, members-only bar on the upper floor.
What joining actually means
- Fees: joining fee one-time (£3,000 — £30,000+ depending on the club), plus annual dues £2,000 — £8,000.
- Sponsors: two existing members must propose you in writing. We can introduce sponsors for clients with a credible profile.
- Wait: most clubs have real waitlists. Six months to three years depending on the club and the year.
How OF.luxury introduces members
- Introductions to existing members who match your profile and can credibly second your application.
- Application drafting — tone matters. We have seen clean applications get fast-tracked and strong applications fail because they read like CVs.
- Guest visits for clients who want to see the rooms before applying. Many clubs allow this through a member host with notice.
- Annual renewal coordination for current members traveling abroad.
Request introductions. We do not publish member names or details.
Guest access without membership
If you are visiting London and want a table inside one of these rooms without joining, the route is:
- Find a member willing to host you for the evening. Members may bring guests subject to club rules (Annabel's: up to 3 guests, sign-in required; 5 Hertford: similar; George: 2 guests).
- The member signs you in at the desk. Most clubs cap guest visits at six per year per member, so the right ask matters.
- OF.luxury maintains relationships with hosts in each room and can introduce a single-evening visit for the right client and the right occasion.
There is no other path. There is no "VIP guest list", no day-pass, no Instagram DM trick.
