Top 10 summer luxury destinations 2026 — where the season actually happens

The luxury summer is not a mystery. The same ten places fill up every June through September, and they have done so for decades — because the harbours, the beach clubs and the villas are genuinely the best in the world. This is the working list for 2026: where the season happens, when each peaks, and what to lock in early.

1. Saint-Tropez, France

Still the centre of gravity. Club 55 and Nikki Beach for lunch, Les Caves du Roy after midnight, Pampelonne for the day. Peaks mid-July to mid-August; the harbour fills with yachts for the season. Tables and daybeds at the top beach clubs sell out weeks ahead — book before you arrive. See Saint-Tropez venues.

2. Mykonos, Greece

The Aegean's loudest summer. Scorpios at sunset, Nammos and SantAnna on the sand, Cavo Tagoo for the pool scene. August is the crescendo — Greek and international crowds collide. Daybed minimums climb sharply in peak weeks. See Mykonos venues.

3. Ibiza, Spain

The clubbing capital and, increasingly, a serious villa and beach-club destination. Pacha, Hï and Ushuaïa for the rooms; Blue Marlin and Lío for the day. Opening parties land late May; the island runs hot until the closings in early October. See Ibiza venues.

4. Monaco

The Grand Prix in late May opens the season, then the Principality settles into a long yachting summer. Jimmy'z remains the after-hours institution; the harbour and the terraces do the rest. The Monaco Yacht Show in late September closes it out. See Monaco venues.

5. Capri, Italy

The most beautiful of them all and the hardest to do casually. Long lunches at Fontelina and Il Riccio, aperitivo in the Piazzetta, a boat to the Faraglioni. June and September are the smart months; August is glorious but crowded. See Capri venues.

6. Porto Cervo, Sardinia

The Costa Smeralda is old-money summer — Billionaire, Phi Beach at sunset, the marina that anchors the largest yachts in the Mediterranean. The first three weeks of August are the apex of the entire European season. See Porto Cervo venues.

7. Marbella, Spain

The Costa del Sol's luxury core — Nikki Beach, Olivia Valère, Trocadero Arena, and the Puerto Banús marina. A longer, warmer season than the Riviera; July and August are peak but June and September stay reliable. See Marbella venues.

8. Cannes, France

Festival glamour in May, then a steady Riviera summer along the Croisette. Baoli for the night, the Carlton and Martinez terraces for the day. Easy to pair with Saint-Tropez and Monaco on the same trip. See Cannes venues.

9. Nice & the Côte d'Azur, France

The gateway to the Riviera and the most practical base — the airport puts Monaco, Cannes and Saint-Tropez within reach. Le Plongeoir for dinner over the water, then drive the coast. Reliable from June to September. See Nice venues.

10. Paris, France

The counter-programme. When the coast overheats in August, Paris empties of locals and the best tables suddenly open up. Girafe, Monsieur Bleu and the rooftop terraces are at their easiest. A culture-and-dining summer for those who have done the beach. See Paris venues.

How to plan the summer

  • Book the beach clubs first. Daybeds and front-row tables at Scorpios, Nammos, Club 55 and Billionaire are the hardest things to secure — they go before flights and villas.
  • Stack destinations. The Riviera (Nice, Cannes, Monaco, Saint-Tropez) is one trip; Sardinia, Capri and Mykonos pair by yacht or short flight.
  • Mind the peak weeks. Early-to-mid August is the absolute apex everywhere on the Med — minimums and prices reflect it. June and September are quieter and, for many, better.
